Somerset CPAs is pleased to announce that Rex Collins, CPA, CVA, has been named Chairman of the BDO Seidman Alliance Dealership Industry Group (BDO DIG). 

The BDO DIG is a nationwide team of accounting and consulting professionals from 41 independent BDO Seidman Alliance member firms in 25 states focused on serving the dealership industry, which includes automotive, industrial equipment, construction equipment, marine, RV and power-sports dealers as well as equipment rental companies.

As Chairman of the Executive Committee, Rex will lead activities designed to unite the dealership industry and provide the highest level of independent, personalized service available from Alliance firms and BDO Seidman. BDO DIG invests in long-term value-driven relationships and holds a deep knowledge of dealer operations and backgrounds in traditional accounting, tax and consulting services aimed to assist clients achieve their business goals.

Rex is a senior manager on Somerset’s Litigation & Valuation Team and heads their Dealership Team. Prior to joining the firm in 2007, he spent 19 years in public practice as a CPA with several years of focus on serving dealers and their dealerships. Rex's specialty services, provided to dealers and their dealerships, include valuations for estate, gift, litigation and transaction purposes; mergers and acquisitions including negotiating financing and due diligence; litigation support services; forensic accounting; economic, operational and management consulting; estate planning; research and planning taxation; general business and financial consulting; and dealership accounting, operations and management. He gained dealer industry experience as the CFO of a multi-line dealer group for three years and as the GM and CFO of a dealership group. Rex graduated from the University of Indianapolis in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting and business administration and an Associate of Science degree in computer technology. Over the years he has authored several publications and has spoken nationally at numerous seminars and conferences throughout the U.S. on a variety of topics relating to auto dealership. Rex is a current member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Indiana CPA Society and National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. He is a current member and past-president of the CPA Auto Dealer Consultants Association. Rex serves as an audit committee member and on the board of directors of Volunteers of America of Indiana.
